FAQ

WHAT IS MOLNUPIRAVIR?

Molnupiravir (MK-4482, EIDD-2801) is an investigational, orally administered form of a potent ribonucleoside analog that inhibits the replication of SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent of COVID-19. Molnupiravir is being studied as a single medicine, without the use of concomitant medicines and without food intake restrictions or dose modifications based on renal or hepatic impairment. Based on available data, no known drug interactions with molnupiravir have been identified.

WHAT IS MOLNUPIRAVIR GENERIC DRUG?

Merck has granted a royalty-free license for its promising Covid-19 pill to a United Nations-backed nonprofit in a deal that would allow the drug to be manufactured and sold cheaply in the poorest nations, where vaccines for the coronavirus are in devastatingly short supply.

The agreement with the Medicines Patent Pool, an organization that works to make medical treatment and technologies globally accessible, will allow companies in 105 countries, mostly in Africa and Asia, to sublicense the formulation for the antiviral pill, called molnupiravir, and begin making it.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE MERCK VERSION AND THE GENERIC?

There is no difference in quality between the Merck version and the Generics produced from Indian generic manufacturing facilities. They have been approved by the medicine patents pool to be given the exact Merck formula to use and the raw materials have been tested for quality assurances to make sure it is up to all Merck Standards.

WHY PILLS?

The other covid-19 products on the market have been either injection or IV medications. These have challenges as far as storing, transporting, and administering the medications. Having a pill form makes it much easier to reach a large amount of people in a short amount of time as well as being very cost effective.

ARE THERE OTHER ANTI-VIRAL PILLS ON THE MARKET ?

Yes Pfizer has come out with an anti-viral pill called paxlovid as well. It will not be available to be shipped until mid February at least and we will have access to it when it is available as well.

CAN YOU COMBINE BOTH ANTI-VIRAL PILLS ?

Yes the pills target different protein spikes so physicians have stated that it could be beneficial to take an anti-viral cocktail of both the merck and Pfizer formulas.

WHAT IS THE DOSAGE OF MOLNUPIRAVIR ?

4 200MG pills twice daily for 5 days.

IS THERE ANYONE THAT SHOULDN’T TAKE MOLNUPIRAVIR ?

Anyone under 18 or that is or thinking about becoming pregnant while using molnupiravir.

HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE MEDICATION?

In moderate to high risk for hospitalization molnupiravir has been shown to be 30-50 percent effective at keeping patients out of the hospital depending on which group the patients belong to.

WHO IS MPP

The Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) is a United Nations-backed public health organisation working to increase access to, and facilitate the development of, life-saving medicines for low- and middle-income countries.

WHAT IS WHO GMP

Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP, also referred to as 'cGMP' or 'current Good Manufacturing Practice') is the aspect of quality assurance that ensures that medicinal products are consistently produced and controlled to the quality standards appropriate to their intended use and as required by the product specification.

GMP defines quality measures for both production and quality control and defines general measures to ensure that processes necessary for production and testing are clearly defined, validated, reviewed, and documented, and that the personnel, premises and materials are suitable for the production of pharmaceuticals and biologicals including vaccines. GMP also has legal components, covering responsibilities for distribution, contract manufacturing and testing, and responses to product defects and complaints. Specific GMP requirements relevant to classes of products such as sterile pharmaceuticals or biological medicinal products are provided in a series of annexes to the general GMP requirements.

ARE THERE ANY SPECIAL HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS?

No Molnupiravir is one of the easiest covid-19 drugs on the market to transport and administer

WHERE CAN MOLNUPIRAVIR BE SHIPPED?

There are only a handful of countries that the medication cannot be sold. Almost all countries can be accepted by special permission.
